Restructuring the Carré Michelet at La Défense (92)
The agency is refurbishing the Michelet Block in the La Defence business district, an office building dating from 1986. On the agenda is a facelift, refreshed interiors, a clarification of its volume and an increase in its surface area, which will be increased from 30,000 to 37,000 m². The building becomes separate and distinct from the two volumes that were adjacent to it, so that the square becomes square: the silhouette of the building is homogenized, giving it a clear place in the landscape of La Défense. The refurbishment of the building also revises its uses. Three additional levels will be created at the top: the 9th floor will be elevated and a mezzanine created to form a large panoramic penthouse welcoming new spaces: an exhibition space, a business restaurant or a gym? The choice is left to the future taker. The Block is hollowed out to its full height of an atrium allowing all levels natural light. Finally, a large part of the new plans is about allocating generous green space and revegetation of the ensemble, which is targeting HQE and Breeam certifications.
